EN Abstract:
Objective:To observe the effect of ultrasound therapy vs electroacupuncture on the expression of MMP-1 in the cartilage of rabbit knee osteoarthritis model. Methods:Forty New Zealand rabbits were randomly divided into the normal group, the model group, the ultrasound group and the electroacupuncture group. Any group except the normal group was given straight bit left knee plaster casts to create osteoarthritis. The changes in the pathological morphology and the expression of MMP-1 were observed. Results:By Mankin's score, the degree of pathological lesion in model group was severer than other groups (P<0.01).The expression levels of MMP-1 in model group were higher than other groups (P<0.01).There was no significant difference between ultrasound group and electroacupuncture group. Conclusions:Both ultrasonic treatment and electroacupuncture can effectively reduce the expression of MMP-1 in the cartilage, and can be used to treat knee knee osteoarthritis.
