Objective:To observe the therapeutic effect of electro-acupuncture and mild-warm moxibustion for treatment of temporomandibular joint disorders syndrome(TMJDS).Methods:Sixty-two cases of TMJDS were divided into observation group(32 cases)and control group(30 cases). The patients in observation group were treated with electro-acupuncture and mild-warm moxibustion, and those in control group with simple acupuncture only. Before and after treatment, the craniomandibular index(CMI)and the visual analogue scale(VAS)were used for functional assessment. Results:After the treatment for 2 weeks, the CMI and VAS scores were significantly reduced(P<0.05)in two groups as compared with pretreatment, and CMI and VAS scores in observation group were obviously lower than in control group(P<0.05).The total effective rate in observation group was markedly higher than in control group(90.62%,76.67%,P<0.05).Conclusion:Electroacupuncture and mild-warm moxibustion has better effect in treating TMJDS than simple acupuncture. |
