Objective:To study the effect of music therapy combined with behavioral therapy on rehabilitation of schizophrenia patients in recovery period. 〖WT5"HZ〗Methods〖WT5"BZ〗: 100 hospitalized patients with schizophrenia at recovery stage were randomly divided into study group and control group (n=50 each). The patients in the two groups were given conventional antipsychotic drug treatment and nursing. The patients in the study group were subjected to music therapy and behavior therapy additionally. Modified version of Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (M-WCST) trails and the Brief Psychiatric scale (BPRS) were assessed before and after treatment. Results: After treatment for 3 months, for M-WCST, the correct number and the number of correct classifications in the study group were significantly greater than those before treatment and in the control group. The number of errors and perseverative error number in the study group were significantly less than those before treatment and in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment for 5 months, correct number and correct classification number in the study group were greater than those at 3rd month and in the control group. Wrong number, number of perseverative errors and non persistent error number in the study group were significantly less than those at 3rd month and in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment for 5 months, for BPRS, passive social withdrawal, poverty of thought, will decline, and attention disorders symptoms were improved more significantly in the study group than in the control group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference about the sleep disorders, hallucinations, and delusions between the two groups. Conclusion: Music therapy combined with behavioral therapy can significantly improve the cognitive function and mental symptoms of schizophrenia patients in recovery period, and has a significant effect on the rehabilitation of patients and the return to society. |
