Objective: To study the test retest reliability and interrater reliability of the extended Barthel index (EBI) in evaluation of Chinese stroke patients. Methods: All the stroke patients were assessed with an extended Barthel index scale by one evaluator, and the patients were evaluated again within 3 days after the assessment. The other one evaluator evaluated the patient within 2 days after the first assessment. The interlevel correlation coefficient (ICC) analysis of the EBI results among different evaluators was used to examine test retest reliability of EBI and the interrater reliability. Results: The interlevel correlation coefficient of total score of the first evaluator in two times assessment was 0.99 (P<0.01); The interlevel correlation coefficient of the total score of first evaluator and second evaluator was 0.98 (P<0.01). Conclusions: The EBI scale has good test retest reliability and interrater reliability evaluation for rehabilitation assessment of stroke patients. |
