Objective: To explore the effect of long-term moderate exercise on intelligence of healthy young women. Methods: A total of 60 young female therapists who were enrolled in the 2019 rehabilitation major of Capital Medical University from June 2021 to December 2022 and studied in the China Rehabilitation Research Center were selected as the study subjects. They were divided into sedentary group and exercise group (moderate exercise group) according to the exercise index. Both groups were tested with the revised Wechsler Intelligence Scale (the fourth edition) and the continuous operational test. The concentration changes of oxygenated hemoglobin and deoxygenated hemoglobin in 22 functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) channels in the prefrontal lobe of the subjects in task state were collected, the longitudinal fissure channels 4 and 19 of the brain were removed, and the average values of 10 channels on both sides were taken. Meanwhile, the correct rate, hit rate and average reaction time of the task were recorded. Results: The Wechsler Intelligence Scale showed that the operational intelligent quotient (IQ) of the exercise group was significantly higher than that of the sedentary group (P<0.01). Moreover, there were statistically significant differences in verbal IQ and total IQ between the two groups (P<0.05). In the two sub-tests, the exercise group performed better than the sedentary group, and there was a statistical difference between the two groups (P<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the accuracy rate, hit rate between CPT groups. However, the accuracy rate and hit rate of the exercise group were higher, and the reaction time was shorter in the exercise group than in the sedentary group. Functional near-infrared spectroscopy showed that the Central Value of changes in oxygenated hemoglobin in the left prefrontal lobe was lower in the exercise group than in the sedentary group (P<0.01).Conclusion: Exercise can further improve the intelligence level of healthy young women by improving the activation level of the left prefrontal lobe of the brain. However, the improvement of motor function on the level of sustained attention still needs further study. |
