Objective: To observe the degree of correlation between upper limb motor dysfunction and aphasia. Methods: The clinical data were retrospectively collected and analyzed on 438 patients hospitalized for assessment of language function, including basic information, total and sub-scores of the Chinese Rehabilitation Research Center Aphasia Examination (CRRCAE), and upper limb scores of the Fugl-Meyer Motor Function Assessment (FMA-UE). Results: There was a significantly positive correlation between the total and sub-scores of the CRRCAE and the FMA-UE scores (P<0.01). After using the lesion site as a control variable for partial correlation analysis, the results still indicated a mild to moderate positive correlation between the total and sub-scores of CRRCAE and FMA-UE scores (P<0.01). Conclusion: There is a positive correlation between aphasia and upper limb motor function. Clinically, it is feasible to consider designing aphasia training methods related to physical movement to improve language functions. |
