EN Abstract:
Objective: To investigate the therapeutic effect of shock wave therapy combined with muscle energy technique in degenerative meniscus lesions. Methods:A total of 93 patients with degenerative meniscus injury were randomly assigned to the control group, the muscle energy group and the combined group, with 31 cases in each group. All three groups received conventional rehabilitation treatment including physical agent therapy, joint mobilization and conventional exercise therapy. The control group was additionally given 40 min of muscle strength training and power bike training per day as control, the muscle energy group was additionally subjected to 40 min of muscle energy training per day, and the combined group additionally received 40 min of muscle energy training per day combined with shock wave therapy once a week. The visual analogue scale (VAS), Lysholm Knee score and the root mean square (RMS) value of the surface electromyography of the quadriceps femoris were used to evaluate the improvement of knee joint function before and 6 weeks after treatment. Results:After 6 weeks of treatment, the VAS score of the three groups decreased, the Lysholm Knee Score score and RMS value increased as compared with those before treatment, and the changes were statistically significant (P<0.001). The decreased VAS score and increased Lysholm Knee score in the combined group was more significant than that in the control group and the muscle energy group (P<0.05), and the RMS value of the vastus lateralis and vastus medialis in the combined group was higher than that in the control group and the muscle energy group (P<0.001). Conclusion:The treatment plan of shock wave therapy combined with muscle energy technique can effectively relieve the pain of patients with degenerative meniscus injury, activate the quadriceps femoris and improve the function of the knee joint.
