EN Abstract:
Objective: To explore the effects of transcutaneous acupoint electrical stimulation combined with speech auditory feedback cognitive training on cognitive function, serum fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23), and central nervous system specific protein (S100β) levels in patients with cognitive impairment after traumatic brain injury. Methods: 138 patients with cognitive impairment after traumatic brain injury were randomly classified into the control group and the combined group, with 69 cases per group. The control group was given speech auditory feedback cognitive training, while the combined group additionally subjected to transcutaneous acupoint electrical stimulation. The scores of Montreal cognitive assessment scale (MoCA), mini mental state examination scale (MMSE), activity of daily living scale (ADL), the changes of serum FGF23 and S100β levels and the adverse reactions after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results: After treatment, the scores of each dimension and total score of MoCA, MMSE and ADL in the two groups were significantly higher than those before treatment (P<0.01), and the scores in the combined group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.01). The levels of serum FGF23 and S100β in the two groups were significantly lower than those before treatment, and those in the combined group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.01). The incidence of adverse reactions between the combined group and the control group showed no significant difference. Conclusion: Transcutaneous acupoint electrical stimulation combined with speech auditory feedback cognitive training can effectively ameliorate cognitive function, reduce serum FGF23 and S100β levels, and enhance daily living ability.
