EN Abstract:
Objective:To analyze the application effect of the outcome-based education (OBE) concept in practical teaching of bronchoscopy for respiratory rehabilitation and explore new teaching methods for bronchoscopy practical training. Methods: In total, 42 students enrolled in the 2022 respiratory therapy program were randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group adopted a practical teaching model driven by the OBE concept, while the control group received traditional practical teaching. Theoretical and operational assessment scores, as well as national survey of student engagement (NSSE) questionnaire results, were compared between the two groups. Results: The post-course theoretical scores of both groups were higher than the pre-course scores (P<0.01), with the experimental group showing a more significant improvement (P<0.01). Additionally, the experimental group achieved higher scores than the control group in both practical assessment and procedural performance (P<0.01). Furthermore, in the NSSE questionnaire, the study group demonstrated superior performance across four dimensions: active and collaborative learning, student-faculty interaction, enriching educational experiences, and supportive campus environment (P<0.05, 0.01). Conclusion: The application of the OBE concept in practical teaching of bronchoscopy for respiratory rehabilitation helps enhance students' bronchoscopy operational skills, clinical application abilities, and learning initiative.
